The long-anticipated announcement was made today, and Amazon decided to split up its' 50,000 job HQ2 into HQ2/3 in Long Island City, NY and Arlington, VA while also adding an eastern distribution center in Nashville, TN that will add approximately 5,000 additional local jobs.

Amazon has said that it will begin hiring for these locations in 2019, which is right around the corner. Some of you that are reading this right now may be among the candidates for many of these new openings which means a move may be in your near future. Do you have a house to sell, will you be purchasing a new home in your new state? Have you thought about the impact this announcement will have on the housing markets in these locations? How quickly will people start moving into the area? What is the existing inventory level of homes in these markets? What is the absorption rate? Will there be enough homes or will there be a housing shortage? Will prices go up for those who wait longer to make the move? These are all valid considerations and if you or someone you know is considering a move to one of these areas, the time to start planning is now.
